One of the most popular and cosmopolitan beaches of Crete is just 9 km from Chania. The beach of Agia Marina, in the Municipality of Nea Kydonia is a beach with very fine sand, that stretches for more than 2 km. The beach of Agia Marina is ideal for families with children because of the shallow, warm waters of the beach.  Facing the beach of Agia Marina, lies  the islet of Agioi Theodori or Thodorou, which hosts the protected wild goats of Crete known as Kri-Kri.
